The 10th IRF WRC organizing committee is not responsible for organizing activities for non-congress attending guests: You can however find many activities and beautiful areas to visit on the IRF WRC Website by following this link: About Event (worldrangercongress.org) – Scroll down until you find “Places of interest around Hyeres or you can visit https://www.hyeres-tourism.co.uk/ Please note that the Belambra Les Criques is not situated in town, it is in a more rural area and transport to and from the venue will have to be planned accordingly.

Promotional material that ranger associations can use to promote the 10th IRF WRC includes everything that is shared on our social media pages and website.

  • To ensure regional diversity, we are looking for equity across the seven IRF regions. As we have a maximum of 400 registrations available for the Congress, each region will have a capped allocation to prevent all registrations taken up by one region.
  • Over the coming weeks, if we see a region is lacking in bookings we will do a targeted communications approach, and if others are filling quickly we can do the same.
  • If we get one region that reaches its capacity and others that don’t, we have the flexibility to adjust the capacity accordingly. It is all about being fair and ensuring regional diversity.
  • Like all Congresses and events there are limited capacity, and we have done this in a way that supports those that book early and those that still need some time. We are confident this will work and is managed behind the scenes.
  • If any ranger association or group is planning on booking multiple registrations, but are unsure on who will be taking these registrations, you can do this via the normal process and add names at a later date.
  • As with all WRC's, registration is open to all members, groups/ associations and individuals, there is NO priority booking schedule.

  • We are taking volunteers (before and during the WRC) of any and all cultural backgrounds and languages so please let us know if you want to be involved and when exactly you are available.
  • Multiple language skills would be very beneficial.
  • You can contact wrc@internationalrangers.org,

The World Ranger Congress is a key initiative of the International Ranger Federation, who cohosts, with the assistance of a local ranger association, the event on different continents, bringing together rangers from around the world who are involved in the protection and conservation of natural, cultural, and historical sites.

The International Ranger Federation (IRF) is a non-profit organization established to raise awareness of, and support the critical work that rangers do in conserving the world’s natural and cultural heritage. Founded in 1992, the IRF has members from over 50 countries, on 6 of the 7 continents, broken into 7 regions.

  • Further the professional standards of rangers throughout the world, by facilitating training for rangers through a variety of forums for communication, sharing and learning.
  • promote and support rangers throughout the world and create a global network of rangers.
  • develop and disseminate examples of ‘best practice’ and ‘lessons learned’ in ranger work to all who will benefit and
  • encourage and assist with the establishment of ranger associations in countries not currently associated with the IRF, both to increase the representational capacity of the IRF, but also to nurture the common bond of rangers throughout the world.

The "Gardes Nature de France" Association (GNF) was established at the conclusion of the National Parks Meetings on October 16, 2010, in Florac. This professional association aims to bring together field agents from various natural areas in France (Regional Natural Parks, National Parks, Nature Reserves, sites of the Coastal Conservatory, Great Sites of France...) and puts its expertise at the service of nature protection professionals and their establishments. GNF’s main objectives:

  • Recognition and promotion of the nature guard professions
  • Networking of field agents
  • Solidarity and mutual assistance among its members, also providing moral and/or legal support to guards facing difficulties or their families
  • Strengthening their professionalism and expertise by sharing experiences and tools, exchanging information on their missions, equipment, and organizing congresses and working groups
  • Nature Guards of France is the French section of the "International Ranger Federation" (IRF).

The IRF co-host a World Ranger Congress on different continents every 3-4 years, bringing together rangers from around the world who are involved in the protection and conservation of natural, cultural and historical sites.

The IRF, together with Gardes Natures de France (GNF), present the 10th IRF World Ranger Congress to be held in Hyeres, South of France from 7-11 October 2024. The Congress will attract over 400 ranger professionals and conservation workers to discuss topics of common interest and concern in an international networking and professional development event.

The Kunming-Montréal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) of 2022 sets a target for effective conservation and management of at least 30% of the earth's land and sea area by 2030. Due to their crucial role within protected areas and other conservation spaces, rangers are an indispensable workforce in achieving this goal on an international scale. That is why the 10th IRF World Ranger Congress will focus on the contributions and developments in the ranger profession to attain Target 3 (and other targets) of the GBF.

  • Give recognition to the profession and skills of rangers at local, national, and international levels.
  • To share challenges faced by rangers and sharing of best practice.
  • Identify on-the-ground solutions tailored to regional and global challenges.
  • Strengthen the global ranger community of practice.

The IRF and GNF would like to invite you to join us to deliver a memorable and successful 10th IRF World Ranger Congress. Your financial investment will help achieve our mission to encourage inclusive and diverse representation by keeping the Congress affordable for all delegates.
